Dictator Robert Mugabe has finally resigned today, ending his 37-year rule of Zimbabwe after the country's ousted vice president - dubbed 'The Crocodile' - ordered him to quit.

Zimbabwe's parliament erupted in wild celebrations as the announcement was made that the 93-year-old had resigned 'with immediate effect'.

Zanu-PF officials said former vice president Emmerson 'The Crocodile' Mnangagwa would take over. The Parliament's leader said he was working on legal issues to appoint a new president within 48 hours.

Mugabe had been accused of allowing his wife Grace, 52, to 'usurp' power and of being too old to rule. It is not clear what will now happen to his loathed wife, dubbed Gucci Grace for her lavish spending, who has not been seen since she and her husband were held under house arrest last week.

WNU Editor: As this blog predicted two days ago .... he "signed a letter" announcing his resignation .... Resignation letter of Zimbabwe's Mugabe doesn't mention who he leaves in charge (Reuters). Hmmmm .... my gut tells me that this letter was not written by him, and as for his signature .... a part of me wonders if he knew what he was signing .... or if he signed it all.

I'll never get guys like Mugabe. People cheer when you're gone. How can you lead such a life of self enrichment and be in content with yourself? I do get of course that people are scrupulous and love the money. But he was 93..he can't even spend all the money he's got offshore hidden away. What makes people to act like that for decades with no end? And I don't mean the financial or even sexual motivation. It looks symptomatic of a disease. Perhaps a mutation in a gene, so they're really just physically sick/more likely to act without empathy? Weinstein is clearly smart and talented. Mugabe was said to be smart too. Then something happens.is it that power just corrupts or is there an actual clinical change happening to people in power? Like a hormonal overdrive that makes you blind to common sense and empathy? Certainly it would make sense from a nature selection perspective. It has been shown that unemployed people lose libido and sexual capacity. It seems plausible that nature could trigger a similar effect in powerful people. I hope that's the case so we can cure it..because Mugabe and Weinstein - despite the monstrous things they did - don't strike me as "evil" ..they seem to be unable to stop somehow

And now the chaos begins as the search for something immediately better fails to deliver.

"According to the transcript of the secretly recorded tape, Charles Koch was chuckling like a six-year old. Koch was having a hell of a laugh over pilfering a few hundred dollars' worth of oil from a couple of dirt-poor Indians on the Osage Reservation.

Why did Koch, worth about $3 billion at the time (now $20 billion) need to boost a few bucks from some Indian in a trailer home? Koch answered:

"I want my fair share – and that's all of it."
